On Monday, April 21st Congressman Jack Kingston was in Jesup along with USDA Rural Development Director Stone Workman to present Altamaha Technical College with a $65,000 check from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The money was used to purchase two CDL trucks and trailers for Altamaha Technical College’s Commercial Truck Driving Program.
College President Lorette M. Hoover said the demand for skilled truckers is hard to keep up with in this area, especially since the port in Brunswick began to expand. “We have really been inundated with not just students but request from employers for truck drivers,” Hoover said. “We have had 100 percent placement of our commercial truck driving graduates for the last 15 years.”
For more information about The Commercial Truck Driving Program call 888-755-2832. The next class is scheduled to start July 9th at the Baxley Campus.
