Scholarships and Loans

Altamaha Technical College Foundation, Inc., raises money for student scholarships each year. Students interested in receiving a scholarship or loan through the Foundation need to fill out the application linked below and return it with all accompanying documents to the Office of Financial Aid by the application deadline. Students wishing to receive the GED Scholarship need to fill out a separate application specifically for the GED program.

Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and pre-approved academic-related supplies purchased at the Altamaha Technical College campuses only. Scholarship funds will not be disbursed directly to the student.

Funds disbursed from each scholarship account are to be used solely for the benefit of the recipient. The criteria or amounts listed here may change at any time by the donor or foundation office.

Students must maintain any GPA or program requirements for the duration of the Academic year and must remain enrolled while utilizing funds. Unless otherwise noted, the minimum GPA requirement for a student to be considered in good academic standing is 2.0.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

These scholarships are not part of the Altamaha Technical College Foundation but are available to Altamaha Technical College students. Application and contact information is listed for each opportunity.

Army Emergency Relief Scholarship
The Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial assistance to Army Soldiers and their dependents in time of valid emergency need. Three scholarships available: Stateside spouse education program, Overseas spouse education program and Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund for Dependent Children. Applications available November 1. www.aerhq.org

Jonah R. and Margaret J. Frazier Scholarship Program
Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church sponsors this education scholarship for a resident of Appling or Jeff Davis County. Applications are available February 1 at Baxley or Hazlehurst First United Methodist Church. 912.375.4555 (Hazlehurst). 912.367.2446 (Baxley).

Annemarie & Richard J. Reynolds, Jr. Scholarship Program (Sapelo Foundation)
This special program awards scholarships, based on financial need and academic standing, to accredited colleges and universities on behalf of students of McIntosh County Academy Graduates. Application is available through the Sapelo Foundation, www.sapelofoundation.org.

Glynn County Farm Bureau Scholarship

     Glynn County Farm Bureau has one (1) $1,000 scholarship for a student going to Altamaha Tech. Below are the criteria for the scholarship:
     Each year Glynn County Farm Bureau (GCFB) will award one (1) student scholarship. This will be one year scholarships with $500 available each semester to total $1000. Part-time students (those not taking a full load of classes) will be eligible for a scholarship of $300 each semester.
     These funds, $500 per semester, will be available to pay the cost of books, laboratory fees, field trip assessments, and additional expenses not covered by other scholarships.
     Students will submit vouchers, invoices, bills, or other debit paper work to the Office Manager of local GCFB for payment. These payments will not exceed $500 in total for any one semester. Unused funds in any one semester will revert back to the general scholarship account at GCFB.
     There are two major criteria: One, the student must be in good academic standing with a grade point average of at least 3.0 for associate degree students and a 2.5 GPA for technical career students.  A waiver can be granted regarding the 3.0 GPA under review for special circumstances.    Second, the student or student’s family (parent or legal guardian) must be a member in good standing for at least one year of the Glynn County Farm Bureau.
