2007 Long County Retired Educator of the Year

nobles1Altamaha Technical College presented retired teacher, Nancy Sue Stafford Nobles, with the 2007 Long County Retired Educator of the Year Award.   She was nominated and selected by her peers.

Born in Liberty County, Nobles moved to Ludowici at the age of four and graduated from Long County High.  Upon graduation, with the help of a work study program, she attended Brewton Parker Junior College, now Brewton Parker College, located in Mt. Vernon.   After earning her two year degree, Nobles began her career at Ludowici Elementary School as a third grade teacher.  While teaching, she went back to college and completed her four-year degree at Georgia Southern College, now known as Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro.

Nobles taught a total of 20 years in Ludowici and 10 years in Jesup, spending the last eight years as the Media Specialist for T.G. Ritch Elementary.  After retiring in 1988, Nobles has continued to be an educator serving as the main teacher for her eldest grandson’s home school education, who graduated this year.  Also, she assists with the home school program of three of her other grandchildren. Nobles is married to Gerald Nobles and they have three children, two sons in law, one daughter in law, and six grandchildren.
