ATC Caps 32 Nursing Students PDF Print E-mail

Altamaha Technical College’s Practical Nursing students on their Baxley and Jesup Campuses recently received their nursing camps during two capping ceremonies. Twenty nursing students from the Jesup Campus received theirs during a ceremony held at the Unity Church of God in Jesup, and twelve nursing students from the Baxley Campus received their nursing caps during a ceremony at the Covenant Church of Baxley.

These thirty-two students have been in ATC’s Practical Nursing program over 11 months and will graduate in December.  They earn their nursing cap after reaching a certain level in their academic and clinical hours.  “To accomplish their goals these students spend numerous hours of study with many sacrifice for themselves and their family.  There instructors salute each them for their dedication and hard work. We are so very proud of each one of them,” comments Dailene McDaniel, ATC Practical Nursing Instructor for the Jesup campus. The nurse’s cap is part of the nurse’s uniform and is symbolic as a badge of office and achievement and a great honor to receive.  Each school of nursing has designed a cap for their students with colored bands signifying the students’ college and status.  “They have worked very hard to achieve the honor of wearing their caps,” comments Sheryl Nipper, ATC Practical Nursing Instructor for the Baxley campus.

The students will wear their caps, along with the rest of their nursing uniform, during their clinical hours of working in local hospitals, nursing homes, and health care facilities.
