Altamaha Technical College has been named one of the top four technical colleges within the state of Georgia.  With this designation the college will be one of the 2010 finalist of the first annual Sonny Perdue TCSG College of the Year Award.  The Technical College System of Georgia State Board and its Executive Committee will make the final selection at Thursday’s State Board meeting.  The winner will be announced at the Board Meeting and Governor Perdue will be in attendance to make the presentation to the finalists and the Technical College of the Year winner.

Based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria some of the contributing factors to Altamaha’s Technical College’s selection include the institution having the highest graduation rate within the system and its excellent reputation and top rating for student retention and job placement of graduates.  Along with Altamaha Technical College other finalists are: Albany Technical College, Atlanta Technical College and Wiregrass Technical College.

Along with the announcement, Ron Jackson, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia(TCSG) extended his congratulations and stated “While every TCSG college is a winner, these four fine colleges are the standout performers this year! “
