Altamaha Technical College’s three campuses each held a Career Day for local area high schools.  Jeff Davis High School and Appling County Comprehensive High School students toured the Hazlehurst and Baxley Campuses while Wayne County High School students visited the Jesup campus.  Over 175 juniors and seniors signed up with their counselors to attend the ATC Career Days.  They were able to tour majors, meet instructors, and ask questions about their areas of interest.

“Career Day really gives high school students a chance to see their options and gets them excited about their future.  Also, many think of us more as a trade school, but we are so much more.  We are a college that not only offers trade programs, such as Welding, but we also have professional programs such as Accounting and Computer Information Systems.  This event allows us the time to not only tell the students what we offer, but to show them,” says Dana Gainer, Student Recruitment Specialist for ATC.

When asked what the one thing they saw or learned made the biggest impact, one high school student said “I can complete a program and get a good job in only one year.”  Another student stated, “I do not have to go to a four-year college to get a good paying job and a technical college is not that expensive to attend.”  In addition, the high school students enjoyed a picnic lunches, music, and got to meet and mingle with current Altamaha Tech students.
