On Saturday, March 28, 2009, a Georgia Child Identification Program (GACHIP) event was held at the First United Methodist Church in association with Jesup's Annual Dogwood Festival. The GACHIP is one of the most comprehensive Child Recovery, Identification, and Abduction Awareness programs ever to be offered to parents in the state of Georgia. Despite threats of inclement weather and being under a tornado watch for part of the day, the event processed 115 children. The parents of each child received a packet with a printed identification card; a CD containing the child's personal information, photographs, fingerprints, and videotaped interview; and a plastic teeth impression which also contains the child's DNA and scent for a canine search.

The Dental/DNA station was "manned" by several students of the Altamaha Technical College's Nursing Program under the supervision of Dr. Danny Bryant. Dr. Bryant made several statements about how impressed he was by the students' professionalism and "bedside manner."
The students included: Mitzi Guzman, Sara Fullmore, Kristee Wynn, Robbie Lee, Christy Roberts, Jordan Harvey, Alicia Scopino, and Tracy West.
