Collins Welcomed as New Golden Isles Recruiter/Coordinator at Altamaha Technical College

Dave-CollinsBRUNSWICK, Ga. – Altamaha Technical College’s welcomed Dave Collins as its new Golden Isles Campus Recruiter/High School Coordinator Nov. 1.

Collins brings 20 years of higher education and technical education experience to this position, including previously serving as the Dean of Occupational Studies at Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro. He also taught Computer Information Systems at OTC for 8 years. He comes to Altamaha Technical College from the Tri-County Workforce Consortium, serving Bulloch, Evans and Screven counties, as its Tech Prep Coordinator and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator. He looks forward to bringing his experience to Altamaha Technical College’s seven county service region.

“I have worked with high school kids for over 20 years,” said Collins. “I believe that kids are capable of doing amazing things if they are given the right support and encouragement. Working in education is a privilege that each and every one of us should take seriously. We have the ability to change lives!”

“Dave brings a wealth of experience in technical education,” said Karla Eubanks, Vice President for Student Affairs. “He will be an asset to the College and the Student Affairs Division. I look forward to working with Dave.”

Originally from Savannah, Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Armstrong State College and a MEd in Educational Administration with a higher education emphasis from Georgia Southern University. He also earned an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts from Ogeechee Technical College in May 2011.

He and his wife Sherrie have three sons: Tyler, 23; Josh, 18; and, Luke, 4.

An avid volunteer, he coaches youth soccer and serves on both the regional board of Special Olympics and the board of a therapeutic riding program for special needs children.
