Cosmetology Students Prepare for State Board Exam
After fifteen months of training, fourteen Altamaha Technical College Cosmetology students have successfully completed the program. The class celebrated at Red Lobster in Savannah where many thanks and much gratitude was shared. According to Beatrice Jackson, lead instructor, “The theme of the class is ‘We are Family’ and our motto is ‘Beautifying one person at a time.’ The students have worked really hard and all seem to be eager about going into this field. I always tell them to find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work again.”
The next step for the cosmetology students is to complete their state board licensure exam. A practice exam was given and administered by Jackson and assistant instructor Christie Johnson. The students achieved a 100% pass rate on both the written and practical parts of the practice exam. Their applications for licensure will now be sent to D.L. Roope Administrations, Inc. for forwarding to the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology. In April, the group will perform a practical exam and take a written exam for their license. After passing the state board exam, the students will be licensed to practice all aspects of cosmetology, skin care, and nail technology in 33 of the 50 states in the United States.
The class will receive their cosmetology diplomas in the June 2007 Altamaha Technical College graduation ceremony. “When I stand at graduation watching these graduates receive their diplomas I will be proud. I wish them all luck and much success in their future cosmetology endeavors,” exclaimed Jackson.
