Culinary Students Participate in Third Annual
Georgia Great Steak Cook-Off
Altamaha Technical College culinary arts students participated in the Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd Annual Georgia Great Steak Cook-Off. The cook-off was held on Saturday, March 7th at the Jeff Davis County Fairgrounds.
Chamber officials deemed the event a huge success. Over 550 people attended the all-day event and 20 teams from across the state came to compete for the $1000.00 cash prize and a huge granite trophy. .
 “The students did such a great job and had a really good time competing in the cook- off this year. Of course, a win would have been nice, but the experience gained in the competition is invaluable. They are eager to take what they learned from this experience and apply it to the winning steak next year,” stated Culinary Arts Instructor, Chef Jennifer Evans.
In the 2008 Cook-Off, the culinary students took home the first runner-up trophy and a $250 cash prize.
