Golden EAGLE Student of the Year
O'Naria Youngblood received the Georgia Golden Eagle, Student of the Year Award at the 2007 Adult Literacy Conference in Atlanta last week. The Golden Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Program celebrates the mature adult learners in pursuit of academic excellence. The program recognizes and honors students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in statewide adult literacy classes. The concept of Golden EAGLE is one designed to create a greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster involvement in lifelong learning pursuits. In her speech to the conference attendees she shared her belief that it is never to late to become a life long learner. O'Naria gave accolades to the faculty in the Altamaha Technical College Academic Support Center, especially her nominating instructor Toni Frawley and to Tim Woodward who as GED examiner provided words of encouragement that calmed examinees anxious nerves. O'Naria continued to express how going to college to earn her GED open her eyes to new possibilities. She is now enrolled at ATC in the Business Office Technology diploma program and has her eyes on earning an associate degree. Please congratulate O'Naria Youngblood!!
