Celebrate International Literacy Awareness with Altamaha Technical College
With International Literacy Day fast approaching, Altamaha Technical College has a number of activities planned throughout the month of September to heighten literacy awareness and promote the services offered by the college’s Academic Support Center. The following activities are planned:

A Book Sale will take place on September 4th & 5th at the C. Paul Scott Polytechnical Center on the Jesup Campus. All paperback books will be sold for $.50 and hardcover books $1.00. An Essay Contest entitled, “A Book that Changed My Life” will be held for current Altamaha Technical College students. Winners will be announced on September 25th. The deadline for entry is September 15th. Breakfast with Books will take place the week of September 2nd. Instructors from the college’s Adult Education Department will be visiting Head Start and Pre-K programs throughout the four county service delivery area. The book, “Arthur’s Reading Race,” by Marc Brown will be read to the students and parents are invited to join and enjoy free muffins prepared by Altamaha Technical College’s Culinary Arts Department.
A highlight of the week will be a Book Reading by local author Fay Posley. Posley will share her book “The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.” Her inspiring story will have you mesmerized! The Book Reading will take place in the college library in Jesup on September 4th at 6:00 p.m. The Altamaha Technical College Foundation, Inc. is holding a raffle to benefit the Adult Education Program, so don’t miss the chance to win a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun donated by the Altamaha Wildlife Association and many other great prizes. The drawing will take place on September 25th. Raffle tickets are on sale now!
