Altamaha Technical College opens registration for Spring 2012 semester

JESUP, Ga. —“Altamaha Technical College is preparing for its first spring semester since the state’s technical college system transitioned from quarters to semesters last year,” said Karla Eubanks, Vice President for Student Affairs.

Spring 2012 registration opened last month with new and current students encouraged to contact or visit the Office of Student Affairs at one of the College’s five campuses.

With the transition to the semester system, says Eubanks, we are seeing a trend of students taking more classes per semester since classes are shorter but with more weeks to cover the material.

Spring classes begin January 9, 2012.

Admissions to the technical college, which offers more than 80 associate degree, diploma and certificate programs, is ongoing, although Eubanks encourages students to apply early to take advantage of all the financial aid opportunities available.

Students may take advantage of several financial aid options, such as the Georgia HOPE program, Federal Pell Grant, and a new short-term student loan program through Nelnet Business Solutions.

Altamaha Technical College partnered with Nelnet, a national student loan lender, last semester to help students set up convenient, affordable payment plan for their education expenses. To learn more about the loan program, contact Altamaha Technical College’s Office of Financial Aid at 912-427-5814 or (800) 645-8284 or call Nelnet Education Planning and Financing at (800) 609-8056 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (CST) Monday – Thursday or 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST) Friday.

The Office of Student Affairs encourages current students to make an appointment with their advisor before registering online. Spring 2012 courses with professors and class times, are located online at BannerWeb, which can be accessed by selecting the “Current Students” section on the Altamaha Technical College website (www.altamahatech.edu) and clicking on BannerWeb in the drop down menu.
Contact the Office of Student Affairs for more information at 912-427-5821 or (800) 645-8284 or go to www.altamahatech.edu/registration.
