Altamaha Technical College introduces short-term payment plan options

JESUP, Ga. (Oct. 24, 2011)—Altamaha Technical College contracted with Nelnet Business Solutions to offer a convenient, affordable and interest-free automatic payment plan for students beginning this spring. Students may use the program to pay all of their tuition in two or three payments.

Students are required to pay either 25 or 50 percent of their estimated tuition bill at the time of enrollment in the program. Nelnet Business Solutions/FACTS payment plan will allow students to then pay the remainder of tuition in two or three easy monthly installments. Payment methods include automatic bank payment (ACH) or credit/debit card.

This program is intended to assist students with tuition and fees not covered under the new HOPE Grant and HOPE Scholarship changes that went into effect last semester.

With the changes to the HOPE program, new students may still receive the HOPE Grant regardless of high school GPA; however, students will need a 3.0 GPA at both 30 and 60 HOPE Grant paid-hours to continue receiving the HOPE Grant. The grant will pay for up to 63 semester hours.

Other changes to the HOPE Grant affecting Altamaha Technical College students include an elimination of book vouchers and a reduction in the amount of tuition covered by the HOPE Grant for eligible students. Eligible students may receive up to $60.75 per credit hour for tuition. Students with bachelor’s degrees will not be covered by the HOPE grant, and fees and book allowances will no longer be covered.

To learn more about enrolling in this program, contact Altamaha Technical College’s Office of Financial Aid at 912-427-5814 in Jesup or call Nelnet Education Planning and Financing at (800) 609-8056 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (CST) Monday – Thursday or 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST) Friday.

To apply for admission to Altamaha Technical College, call the admissions office at 912-427-1906. Spring Semester begins January 9, 2012. Students can apply now for one of the over 80 different degree, diploma, or technical certificate of credit programs available at Altamaha Technical College.
