Driver's Education

driver4

Beginning January 1, 2007, all 16-year-olds applying for a Class D license must complete an approved driver education course, AND complete a total of 40 hours of supervised driving, 6 of which must be a night, with a parent or guardian's sworn verification that these driving requirements have been met. Any Georgia student who has not completed an approved driver education course must wait until age 17 to be eligible for a Class D license.

Approved Driver's Education Course

Altamaha Technical College now offers an approved drivers education course.  This course emphasized safe driving techniques for young or inexperienced drivers.  This course include 30 hours of class instruction and approximately 6 additional hours (scheduled for a separate time) of on-the-road experience.

Students must have a valid learner's permit when the on-the-road training begins.
