ATC Offers New Accounting Certificate
Starting spring 2007, Altamaha Technical College will offer a new accounting certificate called Office Accounting Specialist. According to John Aiello, Director of Commercial Studies, Information Technology, and Health Services, “This certificate is designed to provide an introduction and the basics of double entry bookkeeping for the small business owner and starting entrepreneurs.”
Office Accounting Specialist will be offered on the Jesup and Baxley campuses and will take approximately six months to complete. Students will learn the principles of accounting, computerized accounting, and basic computer skills. “This includes using Quick Books, which will help the small business owner needing the tools to set up his or her business in an approved accounting methodology,” comments Aiello.
Program completers will receive a technical certificate of credit as an Office Accounting Specialist. This completion will qualify them for employment as an Accounts Receivable/Payable Clerk, Accounting Assistant, or Accounting Technician.
