Kim Godwin -- Machine Tool Technology

kim-godwinHi, my name is Kim Godwin and I am a Machine Tool Techology student at Altamaha Technical College.  I chose Altamaha Technical College because it offered Machine Tool.  There are other schools but they are farther away.

I chose Machine Tool Technology because I like the hands on work and it fascinates me to know that I can make almost anything with the right equipment.

It is definitly a challenge to balance family, kids, work and school.  My husband and I are both full time students and once I get home for the day it’s time for laundry and household chores.  I have a job that takes up most of my weekend, and I get to spend time with my daugher from Thursday through Sunday.  My parents help out with my daughter during the week and their support makes it possible for me to pursue my dreams.

kim-godwin-familyMy long term goals are to graduate from Altamaha Technical College and start work.  I would ultimately like to work for a large machining company, or perhaps a military base.  My goal is to find a place that has constant work for their employees.

Altamaha Technical College’s Machine Tool Technology program is currently offered on the Jesup Campus and the Golden Isles Campus and has a starting salary in the range of $15/hour.  The FY08 Placement Rate for Altamaha Technical College is 97.9%.  For more information about Machine Tool Technology, visit our website at www.altamahatech.edu or call us toll free at 800-645-8284.
