Shawna Morrison Chosen as ATC's GOAL Winner
Shawna Morrison, a Practical Nursing student at Altamaha Technical College, was named college winner of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) at the GOAL reception on April 5 at the C. Paul Scott Polytechnical Center. The announcement was made by Kirk Rivenbark, Vice President of Instruction.
Shawna is the daughter of Mike and Christine Morrison, of Jesup. She will receive an all expenses paid trip to Atlanta where, for three-days, Shawna will compete with students from 38 other technical colleges and divisions in Georgia for the title of State GOAL Winner, the GOAL medallion, and a new automobile as the grand prize.
The Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education sponsors the GOAL program statewide. At the college-level, the program is sponsored by Appling, Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis, Long, and Wayne County Chamber of Commerces and BB&T. It is coordinated by Altamaha Technical College.
The GOAL program was the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in technical colleges.
In addition to Shawna, four other students were recognized for their outstanding achievement, character and leadership. They are runner-up, Danielle Smith of Ludowici, cosmetology student; Monica Spears of Jesup, Computer Information Systems student; Ashley Murray of Jesup, Practical Nursing student; and Jessica Wood of Screven, Practical Nursing student.
