Yancey Graduation

Altamaha Technical College and Yancey Brothers Company began their partnership over a year ago with their Heavy Equipment Service Technician certificate program. On September 7, 2006, ATC and Yancey held their first graduation ceremony for the program, graduating thirteen students.

Those graduates are Jared Beecher, Lawrence Bradley, Cody Brotherton, Melvin Copeland, Joseph Dewitt, Jason Harden, Brent Johnson, Cody Madray, Henry Merier, Justin Ragland, Phillip Rentz, Justin Strauch, and Matthew Strickland.  According to Jeff Cornwell, Yancey Bros. Co. Recruiter, “we are impressed with the how much the boys have grown over the past year and feel that the growth is a true reflection of the time, effort, and training put in by their instructor, Albert Wildes.  I see all thirteen graduates having long and bright futures with Yancey Brothers Company.”

On August 14th, after 10 months of training, each of these students in the program began their six week paid internship at one of Yancey Brothers Company’s Caterpillar® dealerships in Savannah, Brunswick, Valdosta, Albany, Columbus, Dublin, and Augusta.  Upon completion of their internship each student was offered a job with Yancey Bros. as a Level 1 Technician, with an opportunity to work their way up to a Level 6 Technician in only six years.  “I think this is a very exciting opportunity for someone interested in a career with built in levels of advancement,” comments instructor Albert Wildes.  “We are fortunate to have a company like Yancey Bros. partner with ATC.”
