Hosting a Job Shadow Student

What is Job Shadowing?

Job shadowing provides an excellent opportunity for employers to help students observe a professional in their occupation of interest. A student is matched with a Job Shadow Mentor for one day or a half day, in which students observe daily routines, ask questions, and develop an appreciation for the practical demands required of an employee working in the chosen profession.

Employer Benefits

  • Helps prepare the future workforce.
  • Creates a feeling of personal satisfaction that comes from mentoring a future professional.
  • There is no cost to the employer - students are responsible for any travel and lodging expenses.
  • A great recruiting tool - assists in recruiting efforts of students who are well prepared in their industries.
  • Expose your organization to students/potential employees.
  • Making a difference in the lives of potential employees and helping tomorrow's leaders today.
  • Promotes potential long-term mentoring relationships.
  • Experiencing the satisfaction of modeling professionalism to future employees
