The admissions policies and procedures of the State Board of Technical and Adult Education and Altamaha Technical College assure the citizens of Georgia equal access to the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for them to secure personally satisfying and socially productive employment. By design and implementation, the policies and procedures governing admission to Altamaha Technical College will:

  1. Be nondiscriminatory to any eligible applicant regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, marital status, national/ethnic origin, age, academic or economic disadvantage, handicap or disability; veteran or citizenship status;
  2. Increase the prospective student’s opportunities;
  3. Guide the implementation of all activities related to admission to Altamaha Technical College and its programs, to student financial aid and to the recruitment, placement and retention of students; and
  4. Complement the instructional programs of Altamaha Technical College.

1. Submit an application and $15 application fee. This is a non-refundable, one-time fee. Applications may be completed online on the

2. Submit an official high school transcript, or GED scores, and all transcripts from any colleges, universities, or technical colleges previously attended. An official copy of a transcript must be delivered to Altamaha Technical College in a sealed envelope.

  • A high school diploma/GED is required for all associate degree programs and for most diploma and certificate programs. Requirements vary according to program of study. A high school diploma/GED is desirable, but is not an entrance requirement for all programs.

3. Take the Asset or Compass placement exam or provide acceptable SAT or ACT scores from an exam taken within the last five (5) years. Transfer students may exempt testing upon submission of official transcripts from former regionally or nationally accredited technical colleges, colleges, universities or other postsecondary institutions, documenting satisfactory completion or program level English and math course work. Transfer students must be in good standing at their former institution.

4. Commercial truck driving, practical nursing, heavy diesel equipment technology and Industrial Electrical Technology programs have additional admission requirements. Please contact the Admissions Office for additional requirements.

5. Receive an official notice of acceptance.

6. Report to scheduled advisement session for registration.

7. Participate in scheduled student orientation. Upon admission to ATC, all new students are required to attend an orientation program.
