Student Organizations
Altamaha Technical College is committed to meeting the educational needs of its students and recognizes that students benefit from involvement in campus organizations and activities. Altamaha Technical College facilitates leadership development and personal enrichment by providing a variety of organizations and activities in which students may participate. Altamaha Technical College provides the following student organizations, Ambassador Program, National Technical Honor Society, Phi Beta Lambda, and Student Leadership Council.
Ambassadors
The Ambassador Program at Altamaha Technical College is designed to recognize outstanding students in various programs and to allow them to represent their particular program well within the school and community. Ambassadors undergo training and assist in campus tours and special events, providing goodwill for the college. The ambassador program assists students in leadership and communication skills and work ethics. To become an ambassador, a student must be nominated by an instructor and be in good academic standing with the college, and have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours.  National Technical Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an honor organization for students enrolled in occupational technical programs.
The purpose of NTHS is to:

Promote leadership, honesty, career development and skilled workmanship;
-
Award student achievement;
-
Encourage and assist student education and career goal setting;
-
Promote stronger linkage between local technical colleges, business and industry; and
-
Promote the image of technical education.
In order to become a member of NTHS, a student must:
-
Be recommended by an instructor in his/her program;
-
Have taken 12 credit hours per quarter for two consecutive quarters in one program;
-
Have and maintain a 3.5 overall average, excluding courses in developmental studies;
-
Not make lower than a final grade of B in any course; and
-
Have good character, exhibit leadership skills and plan to pursue a career in his/her program of study.
Benefits of membership in NTHS are:

Membership card and pin;

Seal indicating membership on diploma; and

Panel indicating membership to wear on graduation gown.

 Phi Beta Lambda
The purpose of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is to provide opportunities for post-secondary students to develop vocational competencies for business and office occupations. PBL is an integral part of the instructional programs at Altamaha Technical College and promotes a sense of civic and personal responsibility in students.
The specific goals of PBL are to:

Develop competent, aggressive business leadership;

Strengthen the confidence in students;
-
Create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise;
-
Encourage membership in the development of individual projects that contribute to the improvement of home, business and community;

Promote sound financial management;
-
Encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty;
-
Assist students in the establishment of occupational goals; and
-
Facilitate the transition from school to work.

Dues are $24 per year.

The fiscal year is from August 1st to July 31st

Professional membership dues are $23 per year

 SkillsUSA
SkillsUSASkillsUSA is a professional organization that recognizes outstanding students in secondary and post-secondary education. SkillsUSA members participate in chapter meetings, competitions, leadership conferences, and activities. Members conduct community service projects. They can also interact with local businesspeople in their field of study. Through the SkillsUSA Championships program, members can earn recognition, industry tools and prizes, and college scholarships by competing in local, state, and national competitions.  Student Leadership Council
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) includes students from all programs of study. The purpose of the organization is to promote better relations between the students and faculty, to enhance the physical appearance of the school, to help promote the school and its functions, to plan student activities and to help the school in any way possible.
